GRE填空實(shí)例集錦

新GRE考試去掉了類比和反義詞考察，填空部分除了單句題目(1-2空格)以外增加了兩種形式：段落填空 ( 1-N個(gè)空格 3選1)和單個(gè)句子六選二填空。

1. 段落填空題
Eg. Directions:For each blank select one entry from the corresponding column of choices. Fill all blanks in the way that best completes the text.
The (i) _______ nature of classical tragedy in Athens belies the modern image of tragedy; in the modern view tragedy is austere and stripped down, its representations of ideol**ical and emotional conflicts so superbly compressed that there’s nothing(ii)______ for time to erode.

第一空：
經(jīng)典悲劇與現(xiàn)代悲劇，這兩個(gè)詞一出來，必然構(gòu)成反義關(guān)系。第二句講現(xiàn)代悲劇是"austere and stripped down"，那么找一個(gè)作為“樸素和坦誠”的反義詞，所以第一個(gè)空選 C、multifaceted。
第二空：
所在句子是"so... that"結(jié)構(gòu)，前面的"its representation"指代的是現(xiàn)代悲劇，所以“nothing+空格”意思應(yīng)該仍然是“樸素和坦誠”。當(dāng)然由于"nothing"是否定詞，所以空格應(yīng)該選"austere” 的反義，所以第二空選 F、 extraneous.
通過對這道新GRE填空題的分析，我們可以看出現(xiàn)在的填空練習(xí)題對于同義詞和反義詞的考察仍然是很多的，所以我們可以利用老題型中的反義題型來增加對單詞的理解和反應(yīng)速度。
2. 句子填空題(六選二)同義詞雙選樣題
Eg. Directions:Select the two answer choices that, when used to complete the sentence, fit the meaning of the sentence as a wholeandproduce completed sentences that are alike in meaning.
Early critics of Emily Dickinson's potery mistook for simplemindedness the surface of artlessness that in fact she constructed with such _________.

A、astonishment
B、craft
C、cunning
D、innocence
E、naivete
F、vexation

在這道樣題中，句子邏輯關(guān)系的體現(xiàn)是"in fact”表示前后反義，前面說早期批評家誤解Emily(著名女詩人)的詩是 "simplemindedness”，那么實(shí)際上她的詩應(yīng)該是_______。

這里肯定填"simplemindedness”的反義詞。選項(xiàng)有兩組近義詞B、craft 和C、cunning(匠心獨(dú)運(yùn)和有計(jì)謀，狡猾)，以及D、innocence 和E、naivete(天真和幼稚)。毫無疑問是選第一組。"Artlessness, craft, cunning, innocence, naivete”這些詞以及它們的同義和反義詞在GRE老題中經(jīng)常出現(xiàn)。所以通過背紅寶書，加上做GRE現(xiàn)有材料中的類比題目大大有助于新題型的考試成績。另外新的GRE閱讀中增加的多選題也非常類似于老題型的羅馬數(shù)字題。這些都可以通過老題型得到練習(xí)。
